5 Things to consider for your charging station
1) Since you are considering having an electric vehicle charging station installed in your home or business, take the time to hire a licensed and experienced contractor to do the installation.
2) There are three types of electric vehicle charging stations, depending on how much electricity they can transfer to your vehicle. Level 1 charging takes anywhere from 2-12 hours to fully charge a vehicle. Level 2 charging takes one to six hours to fully charge the vehicle, and level 3 charging takes less than 30 minutes to fully charge the vehicle.
3) As with all equipment, there are certain costs involved with the installation of electric vehicle charging stations that should be considered before making this decision.
These can include cost of the unit itself. Any permits required by local government for installation. Also, inspection fees for both installation and inspection by local contractors.
4) There are charger stations that will track the electricity usage to charge your vehicle. Some employers will allow you to write off so it is important to be able to account for usage.
5) Consider installing a backup generator at your EV charging station to avoid being stuck.
